The Honma GS irons have everything that makes a good “game improvement” iron:
- Maximum launch: The deep sole and additional tungsten weight maximise launch.
- High MOI: By moving the tungsten weight towards the toe, the MOI increases. Hits outside the sweet spot are therefore punished much less harshly.
- Maximum ball speed: In this respect, Honma has already shown what they are capable of with the XP1 irons and of course with the Beres irons, which have been tried and tested for decades. The clubface is designed to be as thin as possible and, in combination with the slot in the sole and the two-piece construction, ensures maximum ball speeds.
The Honma GS irons are equipped with the SpeedTuned 55 shaft. We generally recommend this for players with below average club head speeds who need maximum support. However, the GS irons for men are also available with light steel shafts such as the Nippon 950 Neo.
The club set consists of irons 5-11, that is irons 5-9, pitching wedge and gap wedge. You can add a sand wedge or a 4 iron to the set. However, we only recommend the latter for players who have no problems getting long irons into the air from the fairway. Otherwise, a combination with the Honma GS Hybrid is more advisable.
